What is a channel?

A Liffery channel is a collection of items visible to a selected group of people.

Every item added to Liffery must be added to a channel, this can be one of your channels or a channel you were invited to.

When creating a new channel, you control who can see and add to the channel.

A channel can contain an infinite number of items or people. When you are a member of a channel then the items posted to the said channel will appear on your Liffery Dashboard.

Channels have many purposes, from simple wishlists to a collaborative research tools. Try out the in-channel chat to coordinate your research with friends and family.

Unlike your profile and dashboard view, you have the option to toggle between card layout and table layout to give you the best overview of your research or wish lists.

How to create a Liffery Channel?

Firstly, what is a channel? Well, a channel is somewhere to store your items. A channel can be private, for friends or even public. But, to read more on what a channel is head over here as this page is all about how to create a channel.

Creating a channel:

Add a channel only takes a few minutes, and the only thing you will need to think of is a name:

From the “Channels” tab on the dashboard, click the button “+ NEW CHANNEL”.
Give your channel a name and enter it in the “Channel Name” input.
Optionally add a description to the channel, maybe some details for others to read when they land on your channel.
If you have a picture in mind, you can upload it right away; alternatively, click “Fetch” and see if Liffery can automatically find a good one for you. The pictures it finds are related to your channel name.
Now set the privacy. You have a few options, from completely private to publicly visible.
Lastly, press “CREATE CHANNEL”.

Adding an item to Liffery to a channel

Central to Liffery is the item. An item is posted to Liffery, it can be anything you like. For example, something you would really like and added to your “my wish list” channel. It could be something added to a research Channel, maybe some furniture choices you are considering.

Whatever the item being added is, knowing how to add an item is important and we tried to make adding items as simple as we could.

How to add an item to a channel:

In the header, click the plus icon.
Enter the website address you want to save.
Check the channel you are adding to, and if you are not happy with the one selected, change it by clicking on the channel name.
1. If you don’t see a channel that fits, you can create a new one by clicking the “+ New Channel” button.
2. You will be prompted to add a new channel name and set the privacy. Press “create channel” when ready which will automatically select this as the channel your new item will be added to.
With the item content entered and channel selected, press save.
Your item will now appear on your dashboard.
